Benevolent

The AWTE Benevolent Fund (The Benny) was formed in 1967 to raise money to support AWTE members experiencing difficult times, personally and professionally.

Originally formed by a donation in memory of member Gillian Shebbeare, many members have benefited from subsidies and spirit-lifting treats to help them through illness, job loss, bereavement and to celebrate happy occasions too.

A committee of AWTE members, led by Chair Barbro McAusland, raise funds at the AWTE Christmas Lunch, the Benevolent Fund lunch

If you know an AWTE member going through hard times contact us in the strictest confidence and we will do all we can to help.

Please help us to help you by making a financial or a prize donation.

Thank you in advance for supporting The Benny.

Thanks & Appreciation

AWTE Benevolent raises funds in order to assist members who have suffered a traumatic event but we also like to celebrate good news!   We have received some lovely words from members who have received support in the past.   All communication is in total confidence.   All names remain confidential for obvious reasons.

“I would like to express my appreciation to AWTE Benevolent with my thanks for your kindness and generosity, especially in buying me a new fridge when I was really struggling to raise my children with very little money.”

“It is difficult to put into words but I want to say a sincere thanks to AWTE Benevolent for generously paying for my new electric heater. Without this it would be a cold winter ahead.   Congratulations to you all on the success of AWTE Benevolent, barely recognisable to me who knew it in the early days.”

“I really appreciate that you paid for my transport to the AWTE Benevolent Summer Lunch this year as I am no longer able to travel on public transport. Without your help I would not have been able to attend and meet up with old colleagues and friends.”
